Research Experience
2020 Multi-Institutional project between Dpt. of IM & Radiology at University of Maryland (Dr. R. Hossain; Dr.
K. Robinett, Assist. Professor), Dpt. of Radiology at Harvard Medical School & The Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Dr. M Hammer, Assist. Professor)
Multi-institutional retrospective study investigating the sensitivity & specificity of CXR/CT in COVID-19 patients over disease progression. Helped lead and assembled a 15 persons team across 3 institutions to work on this crisis of our time, and within 6 weeks we determined the diagnostic accuracy of serial CXR approached that of chest CT.
2017-2020 Dpt. of Internal Medicine, University of Maryland, MD (Dr. Chow, Associate Professor)
Investigating the role of COVID-19 and overall burnout rate in residents/allied health. IRB accepted.
Dpt. of Gastroenterology, University of Maryland, MD (Dr. EV Rosenvinge, Assoc. Professor; Dr. R. Kim, Assist. Professor)
Published a case describing a unique case of Gastric Sarcoma. Another project investigated a protocol to predict biliary strictures as a complication of post-liver transplant, with plans to collect data from 2 high-volume liver transplant sites (UMMC &S.Korea). Abstract submitted in 2020.
2017-2018 Dpt. of Infectious Disease, University of Maryland, MD (Dr. S. Schmalzle, Assist. Professor)

Studied foot enchondromas, and was involved in a unique 3-years project where we spent months in
Tanzania/Korea comparing >1000 tribal Maasai feet with those of modern Korean women. We found that
shoes protect the feet from pes plano-valgus deformity despite contributing to hallux valgus deformity.
2015 Dpt. of Surgery, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, OR (Dr. J Dolan, Assoc. Professor)
Investigate the genetic differences of esophageal cancer responders after neoadjuvant therapy through
gene expression analysis and transcriptome profile. Build new database/IRB on another project, to
evaluate the effectiveness of neurectomy on post-herniorrhaphy pain syndrome. Awarded SAGE scholarship.
2013-2015 Dpt. of Surgery, Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, DC (Dr. W Green, Dr. T Fullum,
Professor respectively) Studied post-surgical patients: found a link between health disparities
and surgical outcomes of cholecystectomy patients in one study, and determined that morbid obesity
(BMI>40) can be used as an independent risk factor for post-operative renal dysfunction in another.
2012 Dpt. of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Stanford University School of Medicine, CA (Dr. J Shrager, Professor)
Investigated the optimal approach and outcomes of multifocal adenocarcinoma patients we
operated on, and found that dominant tumor segmentectomy with GGO wedge resection achieved
prolonged survival. Study supported by the AATS Scholarship and presented at the 2013 STS conference.
2009-2011 Psoriasis Longitudinal Assessment and Registry (PSOLAR), University of California at Los Angeles,
CA (Dr. M Lin, Adjunct Professor) Worked as a sub-investigator for a multicenter registry: I perform
monthly assessments on psoriatic patients and collect data to study the long-term effects of therapies on the market. Collaborate findings through national conferences with other site investigators around the country.

Volunteered at a graduates-only lab to investigate the clinical effects of estrogenic compounds
and their link to breast cancer. Learned various lab techniques (RT-PCR, Western blots, and immunofluorescence).
